Loon offers the Ski New England Pass for $1,049, which is also good at Maine's Sugarloaf and Sunday River. With diverse terrain, accessibility - only three miles from I-93 - is a key to Loon's appeal. Loon has dumped $16 million in capital improvements into a new terrain expansion in their South Peak area, and last year added their first double black diamond run, Rip Saw. Loon Mountain in Lincoln, N.H., may be the closest area with a big-mountain feel. With approximately 60 ski resorts within a four-hour drive of the Cape, there is plenty of terrain to explore. The Cape Cod Ski Club boasts hundreds of active members, and there are many more streaming over the bridges in the darkness of an early winter morning, skis in the roof rack, heading north and to the slopes. In one of the TGR films, Jeremy Jones looks at the camera from the peak of a wild, untamed mountain top and says, "I learned to snowboard on a Cape Cod golf course."
